CāŠ—;
i was at ti earlier this week, talking with mark miller and truman blocker
about a scheme i'm trying to run in calif. it appears we have many of the
same goals. the plan goes as follows: i'm currently running a graduate
class at santa clara university in functional programming
(mtc/lisp/scheme/...), that will turn into an undergra class in to spring
and will include a interactive programming lab --a local net of machines
running my tlc-lisp jazzed up with smalltalk like window system--. the
ultimate target for this project is the high schools, and we will be
teaching the material to a high school math teacher's institute next
summer. the goal of all this is to get the crap-basic mentality out of the
colleges and high schools, teaching fundamental computing concepts in the
lisp framework instead. i have a paper, EDUCAT[1,JRA] at SAIL, that i
would appreciate comments on. i understand you have some papers on the
revised curriculum project you are undertaking at mit; i would appreciated
getting a copy. mailing address: John allen, 18215 Bayview Drive, LOs

the reason i went to ti was to obtain support, and support was not
forthcoming. without funding i will have to borrow money, and hope to
survive 'till other funds can be located. if you have suggestions for
possible funding agencies, i'd be gald to hear of them.
